Welcome, I am not a doctor, do not claim to be a doctor. If you are seeking medical advice, then please go see a doctor. This is my story that I want to share with the world so people are aware this could happen.

We had arrived in West Virginia safely. Visited with a family member while we stayed at a hotel until we found a spot for our trailer. Since it was the winter season, it was much more challenging than either of us had thought. However, I am so grateful to the lady that stayed in the room next to us, for she told us about a trailer park few people knew about.

Upon checking it out, we could get the last spot they had. It was perfect. We got our house set up in time for my husband to start his new job. All was going well. Then a week later, I started not to feel so well.

You guessed it; I became ill, ended up in bed for a week, finally broke down, asked my husband to take me to the hospital. Where I was diagnosed with COVID with pneumonia on top. Antibiotics in hand, I began the road to recovery. It was three weeks before I felt better. I could get up to do things though I tired quickly.

Another two weeks went by before I felt my old self again, able to cook, clean, even read a book without falling asleep. It was so nice.

NOTICE

Now, I was totally behind on my editing of Book Two – Dragon Squad to get it to the BETA Readers, which caused me to push back its launch date to September 2022. Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused anyone that is waiting for the book to be released.

TOPIC AT HAND

Yep, I thought I was done with COVID. To my surprise, this was not the case.

I have since learned that COVID depletes your nutarians within your body.

A few months later, my hair started to fall out in large amounts. If you have followed me, you know I have thick luscious long hair that flows down my back. Talk about freaked out. It was like the movie, you know, the one where the girls did a curse, and the teen’s hair fell out in globs.

Yes, this is precisely what happened to me, as you can see in the picture above. The hair there was from me washing my hair one time. It continues to fall out with every wash as well as my daily brushing. Both my husband and I thought I was going bald. Neither one of us had any clue what was going on.

I researched major hair loss. Come to find out, the high fever that comes with COVID can cause telogen effluvium, which is the medical term for hair shedding. Now, depending on how bad the fever was can be the factor of how much hair you will lose. One article said three to six months, while another one said six to nine months of hair loss.

WARNING

If you have had a high fever with COVID, heed my warning. Take vitamins right away, eat foods high in OMEGA-3, eat your vegetables to help replenish the nutrients in your body that you have lost because of the high fever. I would hate for you to look like me right now.

According to what I have read, the good news is that your hair will grow back. It may take months before your hair returns to normal. I actually have hair growth, but it will be long before it is as long as it is today, hoping to keep enough of my long hair to hide the new growth within, making it look like long layers. I do not know if I will get that luck. All I can do is pray this happens.

I have listed the articles below if you would like to review them. Be safe with all that is going on in our world today. Make sure to spend lots of time with your family for you never know if there will be a tomorrow.

  1. I am so sorry you had to go through this. It is very generous of you to share all this information. There is so much we don’t know about Covid and its effects. Here is to a beautiful new head of hair and good health in the coming months.

  2. Oh my GOD! I am so glad I found you. I have the EXACT same thing as you going on. I am so scared of what I am going to look like. I started losing hair almost 3 months exactly to the day that I was hospitalized for COVID Pneumonia. There is hair everywhere in my house. It is horrible, yet at the same time I feel vain. It is only hair…. I don’t know what I will do – get a pixie cut, wear head scarves, get a wig. I am so depressed.

    1. My hair is starting to slow down in falling out. I visited my hairstylist she recommended a shampoo treatment kit that is helping my hair to grow back faster. It was $48 but well worth the money. Yeah, I am not freaking out anymore because I see the new hair growth. Grateful, I still have some of my long hair though it is so thin I can barely put it in a ponytail, so I’m wearing a hairband instead.

      1. Good to hear! I found some really cute headbands on Amazon and am using those. Still early though. Are you using Nioxin shampoo? I have heard of that!
