Welcome to today’s post. Have you ever taken on a project/job thinking this will be great? To only, later on, realize, “What did I do?” Leaving you to feel overwhelmed by the whole situation. Don’t worry. You are not alone. Believe me, at some point in our lives; we have probably all been there. If your one of the lucky ones not to have. Well, there is still time. Don’t worry; you’ll join the club soon enough.
It can be hard when you feel this way, for it can take a toll on your spirit, your happiness, and even you physically. There have been times I would go around my house, recite the Serenity Prayer to get through overwhelming things while trying to stay sane. I still do to this day when I feel overwhelmed.
Why, you ask?
Well, it reminds me I can’t be in control of all things in my life. At the same time, there are some things I can control. If I can change the situation, great; if not, then I have to roll with it, get through it move on to the next thing. Hopefully, on the next thing, I can have more control.
I mean, come on, who doesn’t enjoy being in control, right?
Maybe you started a project to fix something only to get into it to find out there is way more work than you first expected. You can’t change the situation. All you can do is your best, schedule your time to complete the project. This is an example of something you can’t change. Unfortunately, it means you have to suck up to knock it out.
Started a new job can seem overwhelming. Though as time goes on, you learn the routine more; it becomes easier. This is something you can change. You make yourself a daily list to help or schedule out your day to ensure things get done as smoothly as possible.
Whatever the project you take on, remember not to stress about something you can’t change. Take a deep breath, close your eyes, harmonize your body with the mind that you can do this. You’ll get through it; it’s not forever. Yes, even jobs don’t have to last forever. If you find you don’t like your job well, then find one you do. Just be mindful the grass is not always greener on the other side. Plus, the fact it is getting harder to find jobs makes it all that more challenging. Which can be extremely stressful?
As you start your day, look at the different things that you can change in your life to make it smoother. Then recognize the things you can’t change. Then get your favorite drink, take a deep breath so you can deal with them head-on. Try to have a positive attitude when you tackle the unwanted. Yes, it may be problematic. However, it may make the job much easier if you look to the good and not dwell on the bad. You might have a more pleasant day despite having to do something you really don’t want to do in the first place. Yep, mind over matter.
Another example is something we Texans, along with millions of people in the United States, went through a power outage during a storm. You can’t change the situation. You can make it better by doing work at the front end by preparing for the excepted and unexpected that is to come. In this situation, you don’t have control, though you do have some power because you can allow yourself to get the things you need before the problem arises. Personally, I feel everyone should always have a plan to include supplies stocked piled for Mother Nature can throw many things at any given time. Of course, you don’t have control over this situation; you just have to endure it.
Now, I am not saying you have to spend an abundant amount of money to make sure you’ve gotten prepared for Mother’s Nature’s raft. It is good to have some basic knowledge about surviving with no electricity, heat, water, and how to cook when your electric stove doesn’t work. We as a world have gotten so reliant on the use of electricity we’ve forgotten the basic survival techniques. There will be cases where you thought you were prepared only to find out you weren’t as prepared as you should have been. It’s a slow process. A thought to keep in mind, for it seems Mother Nature has been throwing a lot our way.
What is the whole point of this post?
Well, one, it is to be positive in all that you do. Two, to remember you can’t always have things your way. Otherwise, we wouldn’t grow within spiritual if we could. The most complex life lesson is to learn not to allow life to get you down. You may even shine brightly for all to see. The surrounding people will wonder what you did to be so happy.
